Kandra is an emergency physician and has worked in the Barton Emergency Department (ED) since 2009. Prior to moving to the South Lake Tahoe community, she worked in emergency departments in Oregon, Arizona and Washington. She lives in South Lake with her husband, Andrew, and their two incredible girls.
During medical school, Kandra helped carry out research on how to best identify and help victims of inter-partner violence in the ED. She is currently the CEO of Tahoe Emergency Physicians. She has also held previous leadership roles within the Barton Health System spanning the years to include the Covid pandemic and Caldor Fire; these included being the Barton Chief of Covid, Chief of Staff, and Medical Director of the Emergency Department. All of these experiences, combined with her many years spent working in the ED has given her important insight into the challenges faced by victims of intimate and partner violence. They have also prepared her to appreciate the unique challenges that Vista Rise Collective (LVF) may face in helping people in this bi-state community. Prior to joining the LVF Board of Directors she was familiar with LVF as a donor and from working with them to help people get much needed resources. Given her first-hand appreciation of how critically important LVF is to our South Lake community, she is happy to now be part of the team: “I am excited and motivated to help ensure the ongoing success of LVF! The services are just as critical now as they have ever been.”
